About the book >.>.> I still recall the moment I first learned of the work of Isabelle de Borchgrave. Some friends were in Venice and made a pilgrimage to the Museo Fortuny the opulent palazzo dedicated to the life and work of the master of pleated fashions. The museum was then presenting an exhibition called Un mondo di carta (A World of Paper) a spectacular and utterly engrossing installation of paper costumes by de Borchgrave. Upon hearing about it. I planned a trip to Brussels to visit her magical studio where I couldn’t help but marvel at the singularity and scope of her oeuvre. We began immediately to plan Pulp Fashion: The Art of Isabelle de Borchgrave. I am proud to say that this exhibition so appropriately presented in the galleries of our Legion of Honor museum is the first to offer an overview of the artist’s most impor- tant bodies of work: from the white dresses and Papiers ? la Mode (SP)
