About the book >.>.> This project has flourished because it was led by people and institutions that are exceptional in different ways. The team-Marion Oettinger senior curator and curator of Latin American art at the San Antonio Museum of Art; Fatima Bercht chief curator at El Museo del Barrio; Carolyn Kinder Carr deputy director and chief curator at the Smith- sonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery; and Miguel Bretos a historian with expertise in Latin America and senior scholar with the National Portrait Gallery-scoured much of the Western Hemisphere for exhibition material. We brought our resources to the table brainstormed with the team and together found that these different connections creative ideas and scholarly insights were our greatest strength. The team has succeeded beyond all expectations and we are thrilled to be a part of it. At Ford we know that art is a powerful tool for education.
