About the book >.>.> Our range of models covers the era of smooth-bore muzzle- loaders each having been chosen for its visual appeal historical significance and production feasibility in the amateur workshop. A compromise on some fine detailing has of necessity been reached so that technical processes are within the scope of amateur and school. Thus all the models can be made with a small lathe such as the Myford ML7 and a small drilling machine or stand. The scale is economical in use of materials yet sufficiently large for the beginner to achieve an acceptable degree of accuracy. Alternatively the skilled amateur might wish to work to a more impressive scale of twice the size and add further detailing while military modellers or war games enthusiasts might want to reduce it to one of their recognisable scales particularly if a miniature lathe such as the Emco Unimat is available to them. Most of the materials used should be obtainable in their metric stock sizes but can be readily converted from their imperial equivalents. One final point must be brought to the attention of the reader (LL)
