About the book >.>.> THE Baited Spoon as a practical method of sea fishing has now been known for some years. Many anglers however will be unaware how the method originated and also that it calls for a particular type of spoon. Any type of spoon with the hook baited will not take fish in the numbers that the correct type will take. In short articles space does not permit detailed explanation as to why this type of spoon is recom- mended or why it should be used in particular ways. Details of the experiments which developed the method and which gave much of this information were published in the Fishing Gazette during the time they were taking place; so that they are actually in print. As however they were pub- lished in the 1920’s and early 1930’s they are unlikely to be available to anyone unless they or someone they know has preserved copies of that periodical from shortly after the first world war. There is some information available in Sea Fishing (the Lonsdale Library) published in 1935. More recently details were published in Flatfish How to catch them (Herbert Jenkins) and in the Art of Angling (Caxtons) both published in 1957. These however contain no details of how the method originated or any detailed explanation for using certain types of spoons.
