About the book >.>.> They might be the name of a hotel I’ll never visit a book I’ll never read or a piece of music I’ll never buy. Often I struggle to read what I have written and once written I don’t always want to re-read it. Rarely if ever do I keep a Post It beyond a couple of days. They’re more passing thoughts not noteworthy enough to make it into a book. The purpose is to expel the thought from my mind. Ever since I was a boy whenever my father would pass a flowering bush out came his camera and my mother was summoned to pose. Over the decades he’s amassed a considerable collection of exactly the same photograph all instantly forgettable. ‘This one’ he’ll say with an accepting familiarity as he hands my mother the latest newly developed photographs. She hardly even looks at it; they’re simply archived with the others. It’s not the photograph that’s important. (MP)
