About the book >.>.> Slipware is probably the most appealing type of English pottery. Originating in Continental Europe during the sixteenth century slip-decorating techniques spread widely and by the middle of the seventeenth century were being employed on wares made throughout England and Wales. In north Staffordshire the technique of decorating with slip was embraced and developed by potters during the seventeenth century to the extent that Staffordshire-made slipware may be regarded as the quintessential early English earthenware type.
