About the book >.>.> The book is published as part of Dominik Lang’s exhibition Sleeping City which is being realized in the pavilion of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic as part of the 54th annual international exhibition of fine arts – La Biennale di Venezia in Italy in 2011. The author of the exhibition works with the sculptures of his deceased father with the help of which they try to look at their own past which is at the same time a portrait of collective memory. Interventions into the past cancel its original content and create a new way of reading it. The viewer finds himself in a space outside of time where disintegrating elements mix with new ones into one compact yet unstable whole. In retrospect he thus constructs an intergenerational dialogue that never actually took place. (LL)
