About the book >.>.> Thomas Edward Lawrence was born on 16 August 1888 in Tremadoc Caernarvon shire. When he was still very young his family moved to Scotland and then in the autumn of 1891 to Dinard in Brittany where Ned as his family called him attended a French school. In the spring of 1894 the family moved to Langley Lodge a house on a secluded private estate in the New Forest. There were now four sons: Bob aged eight Ned. Will aged four; and Frank born the previous year. They stayed there for the next two and a half years the boys being schooled by a governess and enjoying three summers of outdoor life. When Ned was seven the Lawrences moved to Oxford so that their sons could receive a more formal education. They settled down at 2 Polstead Road and in Septem ber 1896 the two oldest boys enrolled at the City of Oxford High School. At school Lawrence’s interests and personality began to emerge. He was athleti cally built and interested in gymnastics but only five foot five inches tall.
