About the book >.>.> Russsell Flint is equally well known to his contem- poraries and to the discerning public as Painter and Illustrator. It is impossible to believe that his dainty Water-Colours so poetic in conception and so remote and reticent in their colour schemes can have resulted from early training as a “Trade Artist.” It is almost as surprising to find that his Illustrations which especially appeal to the student and artist by reason of their scholarly distinction and leisurely refined atmosphere have grown out of conventional training and subsequent experience as a Pictorial Journalist. Yet one discovers that Russell Flint has worked as Student Lithographer Scientific Draughtsman and general Illustrator at such varied work as ordinary Commercial Next Drawing Medical Diagrams and Pictorial Journalism of all kinds. Of this previous experience and of the more obvious qualities essential to popularity as an Illustrator- the Artist’s recent work bears not the slightest trace. He is the eldest son of the late Thomas Wighton Flint an Artist who was at the same time Captain of the High Constables of Edinburgh. Russell Flint’s experience. (SP)
