About the book >.>.> It gives me great pleasure to be given this opportunity of writing a foreword to what is undoubtedly the most compre- hensively complete handbook of Bailey Bridge and Uniflote equipments-used either separately or together-which has ever been produced. In it is set out in a clear and understandable manner all the information required to build any of the normal forms of construc- tion as well as parts lists of the necessary components. Data regarding the strength and other properties of the parts is included which enables a user to work out for himself new concepts in the use of the equipment. It should be remarked on that Messrs. Storey carry out the same rigorous proof loading of all components and maintain the necessary close tolerances on dimensions as were laid down for manufacturers by the Government for their own production. Unless this is done not only is there a risk of possibly catastrophic failure but also a likelihood that the parts will not fit together with the ease required to ensure rapid and trouble-free assembly. Finally I should congratulate the authors on the care and thought which has gone into this publication which should be of the greatest value to both civil and military users of the equipment all over the world.
