This book is divided into five sections each discussed in an essay by a distinguished writer on art: Sarah Wilson on the post-war period; Marco Livingstone on Pop Art and Nouveau R?alisme; Ann Hindry on Conceptual Art Minimal Art and Arte Povera; Robert Rosenblum on art from the eighties to the present; and Alexandre Melo on three important Portugese painters. Jos? Berardo and Francisco Capelo the founder and architects of the Collection each contribute texts on the origins of The Berardo Collection and its future. Ann Hindy is a writer and art historian who lives and works in Paris specializing in the art of the sixties and seventies. She was formerly editor-in-chief of the contemporary art magazine Artstudio. Marco Livingstone is an art historian based in London. He has organized touring retrospectives and written publications on the work of Caulfield Dine Hockney Jones Phillips Wesselmann and others as well as a comprehensive survey of Pop Art for the Royal Academy of Arts. His publications include Pop Art: A Continuing History. Alexandre Melo is Professor of Sociology of Art and Culture at the University of Lisbon. As a writer on art he regularly contributes articles to Artforum and Parkett. His books include Juli?o Sarmento-As velocidades da pele. Robert Rosenblum was Professor of Art and Architecture at Princeton University 1956-66 and has been Professor of Fine Arts at New York University since 1967. (OS)
