About the book >.>.> In the research from which this book emerged we confronted three challenges. First although we began with a single metaphor that of weaving and fabric we did not limit ourselves to exploring its application in a single field. On the contrary it was by studying this metaphor in its various applications that we hoped to identify the areas in which its usage was most concrete. Rather than consider the metaphorical use of weaving solely in the case of poetic “weaving” for example as one of us had already done it seemed important to examine its other uses beginning with that of conjugal “weaving.” And indeed it soon became clear to us that marriage was an im important if not the most important area of application with political thought a third. Thus the research for this book developed in the reverse order of the journey proposed for the reader. (LL)
