About the book >.>.> This book is mainly concerned with the activities of the First British Commonwealth Division in the Korean War of 1950-1953- The Division was unique in that it consisted of units from five Commonwealth countries fighting and living in the closest co-operation and operating under the direction of Commanders and Staff Officers from many parts of the Commonwealth. The book also deals with the activities of Commonwealth troops in the early days of 1950 and 1951 before the Division was formed. In addition it includes the broader political and military aspects of the campaign-in which contingents from twenty-two United Nations countries participated on land on the sea and in the air and a description of the organization and methods of the Chinese and North Korean forces. The author Brigadier C. N. Barclay is a well-known military writer. He is the editor of **The Army Quarterly and editor of the Army Section of Brassey’s Annual – The Armed Forces Year Book.” He has also written several Regimental histories covering the period of the Second World War. This literary experience combined with over 30 years’ military service- which included active command in the field during 1939-1945 makes him well qualified to zerite a book of this kind. (SP)
