About the book >.>.> During the war Mgr. Knox was chaplain to a girls’ school evac- uated from London to Shropshire. He preached to those fortunate girls every Sunday. This is one series of his sermons-the Mass taken step by step to show what it means to the priest offering it and what it could mean to the congre- gation offering it with him. The congregation he has in mind is the group of girls in front of him as he preaches-never were sermons more closely related to the con- gregation actually present. He never abandons the conversational tone and he interweaves the most trifling elements in his hearers’ lives with the profoundest spirit- uality quite fascinatingly. Though preached to girls the sermons are for everybody: one automatically makes the substitution of one’s own interests and distractions for theirs and the interpretation of the Mass in itself is the same for all.
