The world to-day possesses probably thousands of outstanding photo- graphers but only very few who succeeded in taking images of the Nude that would convey any but a superficial significance. If good photographers of the Nude are rare books that endeav- our to present more than a very personal facet of the subject are even more so. At any rate this is the first book for many years in which an author has assembled work of 40 notable photographers of the Nude from 10 countries and presents them side by side with the best of his own. These 109 plates make a unique collection for yet another reason. They were chosen from prints that span more than thirty years and because of that reflect many kinds of style and tech- nique.
