Philip Sohm Pro fessor in the Department of Fine Art University of Toronto contributed an essay on the critical reception of seventeenth-century Venetian painting of which the Budapest collection contains an unusually rich selec tion. An essay by George Keyes Patrick and Aimee Butler Curator of Paintings at the Minneapolis Insti tute of Arts who also curated the exhibition deals with the impact of the Venetian school on later styles of European painting.
