If we today are to understand the full meaning of God’s Word we need to know something about the geography of Palestine and the country around it something about the people who lived there and something about the prophets and apostles and evangelists who recorded and preached God’s Word to men. This present book – a sequel to The Way It Was in Bible Times – has been written to give a concise his- torical geography of the Holy Land and the Hebrew people. The life of the Hebrews was partly determined by the land in which they lived. It seems as if God had a special purpose in using this particular people in this unique geographical setting to reveal and accomplish his plan of salvation for all men. The author is deeply indebted to Dr. Dean McKee. former president of the Biblical Seminary in New York City for an inspiring and informative course in Bible Geography offered at the summer session of the Semi- nary in 1952. The course aroused such deep interest in the subject that it sowed the seed from which this book has grown. (LL)
