About the book >.>.> The year 2006 marks the centenary of the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek and on 28 June the museum was fully reopened to the public after almost three years of renovation. A magnificent donation of 100 million kroner from the Carlsberg Foundation in concert with the Ny Carlsberg Foundation has made possible major improvements in access exhibition facilities and the presentation of information for the 350000 people who visit the museum annually. The reopening thus marks a sharpening of the museum’s profile. At the Glyptotek. Danish and international art come face to face-that was the aim of its founder brewing magnate Carl Jacobsen (1842-1914) of Carlsberg and the activities of the museum remain faithful to this vision. Following the renovation our opportunities are enhanced and in the future we shall try to match the rich permanent collections in their new setting through our arrangement of special exhibitions. These will be developed from research projects with international partners and be accompanied by scholarly publications. The main exhibition of 2006 is Homen in Impressionism. The exhibition will critically examine and analyse woman as a theme across the field of Impressionist painting by male as well as female artists. The exhibition comprises more than 100 paintings graphic works and sculpture by Manet Degas Monet Morisot Renoir Cassatt Pissarro and Gauguin. (OS)
